Starting seventh grade, 12-year-old Amelia encounters new bodily insecurities and social standards. She discovers that many of her traits are not what they “should be.” Desperate to fit in, amid scribbles and cutouts, she begins tearing off parts of her body and hiding them in a drawer, until she can no longer ignore them as they transform into a creature reflecting everything she let go of herself.
